Flowervision choose Maxoptra to help cope with blooming business

London, January 2014 —Flowervision London have chosen Maxoptra, a Magenta Technology’s leading routing and scheduling software. This solution was expected to help them meet such daily challenges as narrow time windows to unload stock, pulling together orders, planning routes and making sure drivers have their delivery manifests ready to go – no mean feat for a growing business looking to keep customers happy and deliveries on time.

Until recently Flowervision London, part of one of the UK’s leading suppliers of fresh cut flowers, pot plants and florist’s sundries, used to organise orders, plan and schedule jobs with one planner using pen and paper. With a fixed time window putting pressure on the team to organise orders, load vehicles, plan routes and get deliveries on the road, coupled with an increasing customer base, this became untenable. The company needed a solution that could ensure that they could meet this challenge without compromising their customer expectations of ‘order by 10pm for 10am next day delivery’.

Flowervision chose Maxoptra from Magenta Technology to make sure they could meet their customers’ needs. The easy-to-use route planning software enabled staff to become proficient. Moreover due to the cloud-based nature, the solution appeared to be cost effective and scalable and was able to accommodate the growth in the business.

“Our priority is our customers,” explained Mitch Teitsworth, IT and Technology Manager at Flowervision. “Magenta worked with us to understand what we do so the solution provided works for our business and ensures that we could continue to improve our levels of customer service.”

Flowervision was impressed not only with the technology but also with the Magenta team who listened carefully to the problems they had in order to develop the solution, which suits their business best. This included the ability to assign orders to drivers at the very last minute before vehicles start their routs, and use of a larger map interface. Maxoptra allows the planning team to build routes easily, see them on a map and import them into the system. Having a clear visibility, planners can then make manual adjustments before sharing routes and schedules with drivers. The tight integration with the TomTom system and ability to see the expected start and finish time ensures all drivers work similar hours. The amount of human errors in entering data have reduced as all information details are sent directly to driver’s TomTom Pro device, so a driver can see all his orders for the day.

Maxoptra also sends information from the driver’s TomTom device to the central system, so that a dispatcher can such deviations as delays, thereby enabling Flowervision to keep their customers informed about ETA. The data collected can be used to make reports, understand what can be improved and if the Health & Safety regulations are maintained.

Integrating Maxoptra into the business has provided Flowervision with a scalable solution that will significantly assist in supporting the business as it grows – improving communication with drivers, enabling pro-active customer service, streamlining the order planning and scheduling process, while ensuring the company continues to meet customer expectations. Anton Dmitriev, CEO of Magenta, stated “This is further proof that Magenta’s real time dynamic scheduling capabilities and telematics experience can deliver significant bottom line benefits and are helping companies achieve their growth expectations”
